Representation and inclusivity are what we’re all about. Children of color, kids with disabilities, and non-traditional families are put in focus, in order for us all to learn and grow.
We lift up the kids who are often ignored or underestimated. For our curated book collection, we prioritize diverse kid protagonists over animals.
Our collection is mostly comprised of wooden toys and products made out of recycled materials. We encourage little ones to take care of the planet, and we lead by example.
We gravitate towards independent brands not sold in the Big Box stores. We love colorful and unique products that affirm the dynamic children we serve.
Keewa and Doug are both artists who love their city and community. When Keewa first thought of Kido, Doug simply asked, 'How can I help?' Together, they juggle work and parenthood, while trying to give their kids a super fun childhood.
I've made several orders over the years NEVER had less than a 5-star experience. My kids love the toys, the clothes and the diverse selection of books including LGBTQ+ selections through which they feel represented. Highly recommend. The owners and staff are genuinely great people. Any $ spent here is WELL SPENT and goes towards supporting a vision of an inclusive, love-filled, positive and vibrant world for our children.
Keewa & her amazing staff make me feel a huge sense of community with their amazing shop. I have felt so lucky to have Kido as my go to safe space to bring my little ones & nuture their growing brains with amazingly diverse books and fantastic toys. Their activism is just a beautiful, rainbow colored cherry on top of the sundae. Thank you Kido, we love you!
Whenever I have a birthday or any kid celebration I don’t go anywhere else but Kido! The diversity in books is the best I’ve ever seen. The stores energy is inclusive, warm and friendly. I don’t know if the staff actually remember me but they treat me like a regular and I just love everything about this store.
Thank you Kido for existing!
